Would you like to get more involved in what goes on in your Parish?
Following the May 2023 elections and subsequent resignations/ co-options, there is currently ONE vacancy for a Parish Councillor (with ONE vacancy pending).
You need to live in the Parish or within three miles of the parish, OR the applicant’s main place of work during the whole of the twelve months, must be in the Parish. The applicant must also not be debarred from standing as a Parish Councillor. You can find out more about the eligibility criteria on our Vacancies page.
Parish Councillors are elected to serve to the end of a four year term of office for the Council (to May 2027). They must adhere to a code of conduct, follow prescribed procedures and declare any interests that might be considered as rendering them partial in any Council matter.
The position is unpaid.
Westerleigh & Coalpit Heath Parish Council comprises 2 wards, Coalpit Heath with 7 serving Councillors and Westerleigh with 2 serving Councillors.

January 2026 – Councillor Phil King resigned
June 2025 – New Councillor Geoff Williams co-opted for Coalpit Heath.
September 2024 – New Councillor David Margetts co-opted for Coalpit Heath.
July 2024 – Councillor Adam Hill resigned.
April 2024 – Councillor Carolina Echegaray resigned.
July 2023 – New Councillor Phil King co-opted for Westerleigh.
May 2023 – 7 Councillors elected in uncontested election. Coalpit Heath – Rob McCullough, Jon Lean, Tristan Clark, Kate Kelliher, Adam Hill, Carolina Echegaray & for Westerleigh Carol Goddard.
Spring 2022 – New Councillor Adam Hill co-opted for Coalpit Heath. Adam lives at Blackberry Park.
September 2021 – New Councillor – Kate Kelliher co-opted for Coalpit Heath ward leaving two vacancies in that ward.
